Ok it\'s not what you think.

I am picking tire sizes and since that effects gearing i am trying to come up with a weight that my s-10 will be.

Specs.

S-10 short bed

Tailgate removed.

No rear bumper.

No inner fenderwells

No stock gas tank

All extras stripped including floormat. no headliner

Fiberglass 4\" cowl hood.

8 point roll cage added. +75lbs

Narrowed ford 9 inch added (even swap?)

406 iron heads, aluminum intake and waterpump. Headers etc.

Turbo 350

Weld draglite rims.

Has anybody had theirs weighed at the track?

Any guesses out there?

My 82 short bed S10 checks in at 2,820 lbs. less driver. It is the same as yours except it has Aluminum heads, doors hollowed out and fiberglass bumper. The weight distribution is also real good on those short beds.

With the fuel cell/batts/tailgate behind the rear axle, is it advantageous to keep the tailgate (weight) and use a larger fuel cell (full) to use that moment arm to aid in weight transfer to the rear wheels, or is it better to minimize weight altogether by using the smallest cell practical and eliminating the tailgate? Any engineers out there?

stop guessing and take it to a location near you that has scales. scrap metal recycle yards usually have a drive on scale as do most city dumps. many major truck stops have them. that way you can dial in the truck better knowing the true weight , not guesstimates.

my 87 short bed has aluminum heads, full interior, full cage and tailgate and weighs 2540 with a full cell and a full bottle. it has nothing removed except for the hollow dash and skid plate removed.

I agree with what tracker said. You can also go to a moving company, usually cost about $5.00 around here.
