Hi, I\'m just buying some parts individually before I do my swap. What temp thermostat do you guys run in your sbc\'s?

ya 180 i had a 190 from when it was in my fullsize but ran alittle hot in the s10 the 180 was much better

195 the proper operating temperature of small blocks which gives best performance

This is one of those personal preference deals. You really should try a few different ones. Not like they\'re hard to change. Start with a 180 and hell if that works good stay with it. If you dont like it go up or down as needed.

I beleive with an ECU you should go with the temp range recomended other wise the ECU will think the engine is running too cold and stay in the rich mix mode.
With a carbed engine, and i\'ve had a few SBC\'s with carbs, I\'ve gone with the 180 year round.

180 failsafe superstat well worth the extra dollar over the regular stat, if it ever fasils it will fail in the open position so it won;t voerhjead and you can get somewhere where yo can change it, and it\'s a high flow stat

I\'m running a 195. I wouldn\'t go any lower than a 180, igf you do it won\'t give enough time for the coolant to cool in the radiator and it will actually run hotter. I had a 160 in mine at first and it hit 220 within about 3 miles. Go with a 180 to 195.
