View Full Version : Spool for street use?
Hey i was wondering if its possible to run a mini spool for street use? If so, are you still able to turn? How much is a posi usit compared to a mini spool?

Any spool, mini or full spool would be a pain on the street. You lock both wheels togther and you know what happens! LOL

i run a mini spool on the streeet... honostly it\'s nto that bad in a s-10 because there isn;t a lot of weight...
sure the inside tire squeels a little when you go around right hand corners left hand corners aren;t bad.. and it makes the treuck very predictable in where it\'s going because it always does the same thing... open diffs suck for that ecause once in a while both tires go and tyour not expecting it and the ass ends al over the place.... i like my mini spool... besides i got rid of the weak link in the diff by putting it in because the spiders are by far the weakest part of the diff

Ya, i agree with KRLS10, the weight factor helps.. i have a spool in mine and its not that bad.. my tires dont even squeel, probably depends on the tread / tire. It is def. harder to turn because it just wants to keep going straight, but you always know both your tires will ALWAYS spin when u hit it. No clutches, or springs that can break or wear out.

my buddy ran spools in both his trucks and mine was a cheap spool \"welded\" it was a little fun in the rain but i like that you know what is going to happen and there cheaper than posi hard if you need to push around the driveway though lol

I bought a rear end that was supposed to be posi. it turns out it was a spool. I really hate driving with it in my blazer.
Im gonna swap out to a zexel posi asap.

i\'m running a stock 7.625 out of a 92 s-10 with 4.10 richmond gears and mini spool, works great for me i got the diff for 50 buxs used it dfor a while untill i got sick of the open 3.08 gears and swapped in the richmonds with the spool... i guess it\'s personal prference on weather or not you use one... i just likle it because i always know where the truck is going... and if you plan on abusing your stock rear it\'l stand up a lot better with the spool in it
