I personally don\'t like any of those combination. But it ain\'t my truck. So whatever floats your boat. Just to let you know I have sprayed this paint before and it is very hard to work with. As far as getting it to lay out with no orange peal for a show car finish. I highly recommend that you do a base/clear paint. The durability is a lot longer with this paint. I know it is about 4 times as much but you get what you pay for.

I have to agree with Autobodyteach. If you can afford it, go with base / clear. It makes all of the difference in the world in looks and longevity. For colors one of my favorite lines is the DuPont Hot Hues.
But it\'s your ride! Have fun with it!

Any known paint company has good custom colors. Dupont has their hot hues collection. I would recommend them for a nice color. Maybe like a burnt orange/ copper. Like I said its up to you. But please for you and your trucks sake go with the base clear set up. Personally I love to spray house of kolor. But that is very expensive and some of the other comapanies paint is similar. (PPG, Dupont, Spies Hecker) I\'m sure their are tons more great paint companies out there. Just beware when it is that cheap. One of my students told me he could buy his own paint for his truck. I told him no to but he did. It ended costing him more due to the fact the basecoat wouldn\'t cover like most qaulity paints do and he ending buying double what was needed. Just FYI

Hey autobodyteach, any thoughts on Duplicolors new paintshop paint. My truck will be my second attempt and this product cuts all the mixing out. Just thought it might be good for someone with little to no experience?

I've shot that paint before. Its cheap. Cheap it is. I'll use it spray on stuff I have no cares about... resale cars. Looks good enough.
Becarefull of the light colored metalitcs though. There difficult to lay down. I sprayed the gunmetal on a silver camaro. The car looked great dirty. But when it was wet, washed or waxed I could see color variations between the panels. Not that too many people would notice...but I did.
Well I'd suggest the base/clear urethanes but it takes much experience to learn to spray the clear. I personally like orangish/reds on S10's but it all depends on what 'look'you want. Color makes that look.
Go with what you mentioned for a show/custom look, sounds good to me if the colors are in proportion. What look do you want? Show, custom, race, clean, street/strip,sleeper,,,get my point?

personal preference here, but I would think that making a paint scheme "pop" would be easier if you used a light/bright color over a darker one (or vise versa)? Like black and yellow, for example.

I just shot my 98 with corvette atomic orange. used single stage u-tech that needs some wet sanding and buffing to look like a factory finish. will post some pics soon.
as far as base/clear coat is concerned, I always get a little dirt or critters in the paint (never fails) so wet sanding is usually needed anyway. but metallics flow alot better with base coat for someone who doesn't paint too often.
my outlook is use the cheaper single stage because there's always some jerk who ends up ruining the paint job anyway... and then it needs another paintjob. plus it's real easy to get runs using clear coat. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
