Gathering all the little things I need for my LT1 S10 project. I want to try these old school exhaust cutouts Summit Exhaust Cutouts (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MRG%2D5424&N=700+ 115&autoview=sku) My plan was to install iin front of my stock quiet [cop car] mufflers then back into tail pipe behind muffler. Not really for strip use, just thought it would be fun to get some ricer a visit from the boys in blue after I open pipes and leave some rubber at the green light, egging Hondoytasanda on to follow. Closing cutouts and driving again like to old man I\'m becoming http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I\'m curious how well they stay closed when I want to blend in.

I haven\'t used them on a V8, but I know they work on the Model A. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

My grandfather had an original exhaust cut-out for the Model A. Man, does it ever improve that powerful 4 cylinder. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

It stays closed quite well as long as the choke cable we used to hook it up is adjusted correctly.

i had these same cut outs on my s10, they sound like shit. they dont stay closed even with a return spring because their poorly made, they sound good when their open but when you want to close them the truck is still loud, also they make a \"clank\" \"clank\" noise, the butterfly in mine didnt seal very well.

if you have true dual exaust like me, their isn\'t a left or a right cut out availble, i had to flip one upsidown and one right side up to work.

im now making my own, just comming off the exaust pipe with block off plates.

you could always try the warlocks mufflers you can pull a cap off to open them up. the cut outs usually leak after awhile.
