Hey guys, im just gettin some stuff done this Winter and i had a question. My old friend mentioned this and it halfway made since. Ive never really heard of anyone doing it but its worth a shot.

Would removing my sway bar benefit me? It looks like the front would be able to lift a lil bit more and i could also lose the extra weight. My truck is a track truck that might get drove 2-3times a month (20mins or so in town)on the street so im not worried about handeling as it goes straight 99% of the time. So...is this out of the question/dumb or does it make since?

Help a brotha out! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

Mines off, it handles like a three wheeler but it helps free up the front end. Mine won\'t be going back on.

I think that im lowered some that it should handle alright(lower center of gravity) but like i said, it drives straight most of the time.

I figured it would help free up the front end. Thats the kinda of answers im lookin for. Since were running close times, i guess ill be yankin it off the weekend. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Yeah, I yanked mine off last year. I resisted the temptation for years, worried about the adverse affects of street handling. So now the nose rolls over more in a turn, but it handled like crap to begin with anyway..... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

.............. But truthfully, I don\'t think it made a difference on the 1/4 mile for me. But in theory, it HAS to help some. So it stays off.

Im liking yalls answers! I feel the same, kinda iffy but i know it HAS to help! I mean, when you look at it, it looks to be holding the front end tight. I want that puppy loose, floppy and bouncy! and yes, i AM talkin about my truck http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

With trick springs and no sway bar, mine is like driving a waterbed on the street. But with regular springs it shouldn\'t be to bad. If nothing else, just the weight reduction is worth it if you are looking for best drag strip performance. You could also do what the 4x4 guys do and make some quick disconnects for the sway bar. This way you can unhook it at the track. If nothing else, you can compare 60\' times with it hooked up and without it hooked up to see if it makes any difference.

Hell, I wish I\'d thought about taking mine off before the end of the season. It could have made a difference. I guess by the time I get back to the track in the spring I\'ll have many mods to try out. Loose the sway bar, trick springs, drag shocks, loose the factory tank, replace factory buckets with racing seats, ADD A CAGE, and a NOS Cheater system. Hot Damn its gonna be fun!! That should put me in the 6\'s for sure.

Freakin awesome huh! I love modding. I just ordered me a brand new carb last night, russel dual inlet fuel line (for carb), some shirts and some Pina Colada perfume for my exhaust!!

Anywho, Im gonna just take it off while im off for the holiday. That is some thick metal so i know its gotta weight atleast 20-30lbs.
