What are you guys using for workbenches, cabinets, storage, etc..
There is some really nice stuff out there, but I don\'t have a few grand to spend on cabinets.

I have a well equiped machine shop at my home, so I have many tools for all of my metal working equipment. I use old Metal File cabinets for my tools. Don\'t buy new ones you find on sale, they are of too light construction. Old Steel Cases & Hon file cabinets have strong ball bearing slides and can hold most any weight you can stuff in them. Look at auctions for the best deals, older the company the better. I have bought four drawer Steel Case file cabinets I bought for $5 & $10. You can buy only two drawer cabinets and build a simple counter top.

Probably a lot of us \"high rollers\" are using our old kitchen cabinets salvaged from the last remodel..... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

mine\'s such a mixed and matched setup. I\'ve got two sets of 24x48x72 5 shelf racking from Lowe\'s. One 3 door/countertop section from my late uncle\'s estate (probably 6\'x30\"x 36\"...and it\'s the nicest piece of furniture I own) One rolling super bench I made out of 4x6\"s and 1 1/2\" plywood top w/ 3/4\" bottom shelf. 1 Snap-on rolling lower and the rest of my storage space is the bed/hood/roof of my 1 ton gmc. lol Between my roomate\'s grand national and my girlfriend\'s 77 t-bird, there\'s not much room for anything else in there.

Yep -that\'s me right there. I took the junk cabinets from my first house when I remodeled it and put them in the garage with a 2x8 workbench. It worked out so well that I actually took the whole setup to my new house when we moved.

I\'m using a mish-mash like everybody else. For my \'nice\' benches I used 2x4s and 3/4\" plywood and made some big 4x8 tables. I\'m also using some stuff I got from a machine shop auction, including a welding table that is 70 yrs old, rated for 5 TONS, has wheels and the top moves up and down by internal screw jacks. Might be the best $15 I\'ve spent. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

no room in my one car for any kind of work benches. one craftsman roll around lower, the bed of the parts truck, the hood of the parts truck, and whatever floor space i can muster. at least i keep the piles organized. lol. btw, god bless empty coffee cans for loose nuts and bolts http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

s10rodder - Those are some pretty benches. What did you use for the top surface? It\'s hard to tell from the photos, and kind of looks like formica.
