Going to change my cam from a 246dur at 50 500 lift to a 214/224 dur at 50 442/465 lift. do you have to pull the crank pulley off to change cams or not. My dad say you do how long does a cam change take most of you guys.

Yeah, you\'ll have to pull the crank pulley and balancer and drop the front of the oil pan a little bit to get the timing cover off. You\'ll also have to take off the intake and loosen the rockers to get the lifters out. If you\'re changing it in the truck, you\'ll at least have to get the radiator out of the way, too, and maybe the core support. My best guess is that you can plan on most of a day to get it all done.
I see I\'m not the only one getting rid of that Crane Energizer 302H for something more driveable. Good luck.

To add to the above. If you have a mechanical fuel pump you will have to remove it as well. If you have done the work before I would plan on about 8-10 hours, if not, plan on the whole weekend. You will have to remove the grille as well to allow room for the cam to get out.
Don\'t forget to buy new lifters with the new cam, and also to properly break-in the new cam.
Good luck,
Jeff
