I was just wondering, how many amps do I need to plan for with the Cheater system I\'m hooking up? My Mallory box has a digital built in window switch that will supply ground to the solenoids when on and lose ground when off. The window switch is rated at 10 amps. It is a single stage kit and the manual says it had a 15 amp fuse supplied with the kit-when it was new. I\'m buying it from a friend used. Should I run my wiring on a relay? I was planning on a simple illuminated arming switch and a purge button. I thought I would let the window switch control the ground (I know the solenoids are not polarized) if the amps are high enough on the window switch.

I let a good friend of mine who is a tech for NX Express look at this post and he said, to use a 40 amp relay, number 85 terminal need hooked to rpm window switch ground, number 86 terminal hooks to WOT switch or a push button switch, number 30 terminal hooks straight to the battery, number 87 terminal hooks to the nitrous and fuel soleniod\'s and the other side of the nitrous and fuel solenoids hooks to ground.

BTW where are you from in North Carolina?

I\'m from Dunn, NC. It is between Fayetteville and Raleigh. Thanks for the advice. But still not clear. Will my window switch handle the system with a 10 amp rating (window switch supplies a negative source when activated)?? Also do you have a number on that relay??

Thanks, Stroker1

Let me just add that any solenoid, while it doesn\'t take much current (amps) to hold, has a relatively huge inrush current. For the first split second power is applied to a solenoid, even a tiny one like a NOS solenoid, it appears to be a dead short to the electrical system. So, it\'s might be tough on light duty switches over time, and for sure, you want some decent sized wire feeding it.

........... So yeah, ideally, a relay would be the best way to go. And the power side of the relay should be fed from a decent sized wire from a main wire. And I\'d wire both solenoids to the same relay, in case there\'s a failure of any sort, you don\'t have the juice without the gas.http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif And if you want to fuse them, again, for sure, don\'t fuse them individually.

........... So if you use a relay, and wired properly, any of the switches in the system would see very minimal load.

Case-in-point:

Although the above was shit I already knew, I recently wired my new Innovate! A/F meter-data logger up & it works great. Only thing is, when I go to the track, 99% of the time, the G-meter function craps out while staging. WTF? Just reset it & it\'s OK.

......... So I pose my question at the Innovate! message board, along with one of my graphs. Somebody knew right away. DUH!!! I wired the data logger to my Line-Lock circuit..... \"hey, here\'s a convenient wire, and the only thing on the circuit is the Line-Lok! Great!\" So when the solenoid energizes, it momentarily starves the circuit enough to affect the instrument ever so slightly. Dang! Who\'da thunk?

.......... What pisses me off is that after looking at the graphs a hundred times, you\'d think I\'d notice that The G-meter crapped out just at the time I\'d normally set the Line-Lok. what a dumb shit I am. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Dag-gum dude, don\'t be so hard on yourself. Thanks for the info. I think I\'ll run a #12 wire for the positive, and put the arming switch on this circuit, and WOT switch. A separate circuit for the purge, and run the ground from my window switch to a relay as the activating wire- to activate the ground to the solenoids. Shouldn\'t my fuel pressure saftey switch be in the ground circuit?? Use it to break the ground?? Will the FPSS work with either polarity or just ground? I would think ground would be the safest way.

I used gauge 12 wires and I have a kit since 1999 in an S10. I have 2 stages and I use a 12 gauge wire for both stages without soleoids, just a blue switch that came with the NOS kit I bought back in the day. It is a Top Shot kit with max 150HP jets. I have used the bottle about 100ish times.

The fuel pressure safety switch just breaks the circuit running across it. Put it anywhere, where it breaks the main circuit. I also use a light so that it is on when the system is armed, this way you will not have any suprises.
