Hello all, im new to this site. My uncle is giving me his completely rebuilt 350 with dual 4 barrels, Cam, bored over 30, Balanced and a beefed up tranny, with all of less than 20,000 miles on the motor. My question is, What do i do to go FI instead of carb\'ed...Can\'t afford a gas sucker. I don\'t know where to start. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks

a properly tuned cab can desliver slightly better fuel ecom than fuel injection. its been tested on a 875hp big block.
if the motor is built enough to handle duel quads than any fuel injection is going to have to be serious. look into a motec or megasquirt setup. either one is gunna run you over 3 grand by the time your all said and done.

sO, IT WOULD BE CHEAPER ON MY PART TO STICK WITH THE CARB. HOW IS THE FUEL ECONOMY ON CARBED 350\'S?

It can be pretty descent with a single carb and mild motor... usually gas milage isn\'t a concern with a dual carb setup. What kind of setup is it? A low rise dual 4 or tunnel ram intake? Did he go with the dual carbs because he liked the looks of it? Or did he race it and it was setup for performance? What size cam is in the motor and what kind of heads? If the dual carb setup was mainly for the look, than you probably can go with a single carb or stock type fuel injection. If it was setup for high performance, than you could go back to a single carb or aftermarket fuel injection which will be expensive. That would help milage some but still won\'t be great with a hi-performance engine.
If milage is your main concern, you could sell the parts off the motor you don\'t want and use the cash to get you a stock fuel injection out of the junk yard. Stick a mild cam in it and you have your milage.

I DON\'T HAVE ALL OF THAT INFORMATION YET. BUT I WILL TRY TO GET IT TONIGHT. ALL I KNOW IS THAT HE BUILT THE MOTOR AND IT WAS IN HIS MID 90\'S CHEVY 1500 SINGLE CAB. HE DIDNT RACE IT THAT I KNOW OF EITHER. MY 4.3 IS GETTING ABOUT 18 MILES TO THE GALLON RIGHT NOW, BUT IM SERIOUSLY WANTING THIS SWAP, BUT IF IM ONLY GOING TO GET 10 MILES TO THE GALLON THEN I DON\'T THINK ITS WORTH IT...BUT IM GOING TO HAVE TO GET THE INFO IN DETAIL ON IT FROM MY UNCLE. AND- WITH CARBED, HOW IS MY FUEL PUMP GOING TO WORK, I CANT FIND A CLEAR ANSWER ON THAT ACTUALLY, AM I GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE OUT MY STOCK COMPUTER BECAUSE WITH CARBED, THERES NO COMPUTER BS AM I CORRECT? BTW, I HAVE A97 S-10 4.3.

If your looking for fuel economy, the best thing to do in my opinion is get an overdrive trans. but with dual carbs I wouldn\'t worry about gas mileage. Mine gets about 11 mpg. 350/turbo 350 and 3.50 gears. Even with poor gas mileage it is worth it!!!
