Do any of you run fuel cells? If so do you have problems with the fuel expanding and trying to leak out of the vent cap? I am adding a cloth bed cover after i get it painted and i hope that will help keep it from expanding. Cause i dont want it making the bed smell like gasoline when i lift the cover.

i have a RCI 8 gallon cell in the bed of my truck. i ran a line from the vent fitting under the bed. i also put a roll over check valve just in case. another oint is that i bought the cell off ebay and was told that is was a 12 gallon, however it is only 8. i have to fill it literally everytime i drive my truck. i would go for at least a 12 gallon or maybe even 20. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

if you plan on racing be sure and check your dragstrip rules our local track just went ihra and they have rule about how high the cell can be over the tire height or must be secured in a steel container

mine is an 8 gallon too, but that is because i dont drive it a whole lot. I would like to though. I just live down here where it is so damn hot that it likes to swell up and leak. the vent cap is supposed to keep it from building pressure but it does\'nt.

i would plug that vent hole and put another AN fitting on the top of the tank and run a vent line under the bed. thats what i did and i also put a one way check valve just in cause

I am planning to put a cell in my s-10 project.

question? I see on one post they talked about having a metal shell? If i plan to race at New England Dragway on the weekends will i be required to have this feature?

How about height above the axel. How high is too high?

How are you guys running the line. What size, types of material for the line are you using? Do i need a electric or can i go with a mega type mechanical pump using the cell?

Thanks Guys

I have an aluminum fuel cell in my truck, for the vent I have some 3/8 aluminum tubing rolled in a coil in case it flipped over there should be 3 coils to prevent fuel from coming out and it gets vented under the bed right by the roll pan far away from the exhaust just incase.

Hey doghouse I race at New England Dragway and I have a 15 gallon rci fuel cell in the back of my bed bolted down by to steal brackets... the inspector didn\'t have a problem with my installation... just don\'t forget the ground wire.. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Under IHRA General Requirements section for fuel tanks says \"Top of fuel tank must be below top of rear tires.\" It doesn\'t say for fuel \"cells\". But it does also say \"When allowed by Class Requirements, plastic fuel cells must have a metal box protecting the part of the cell that would be outside the body lines or trunk floor.\" and \"Bottom of fuel cell must be covered with .024\" steel or .032\" aluminum metal when fuel cell protrudes through floor.\" I guess it is all in how the Tech inspector wants to read it. I go to New England Dragway regularly as a spectator, usually street nights, but am working on a 400 HP SBC back halved S10. should be ready to go in a month or so. Will see what it will do in the 1/4.

On my vent on the top of my fuel cell i have a k&n breather. Its the same thing as a breather for your valve cover i just used a hose clamp to hold it on it looks good also.
