I have a 85 camaro that I am building the engine in, after I get it built, I plan on putting in in my s-10 and going big block in the camaro.I bought a set of pete jackson gears off of ebay pretty cheap. Heres the problem. No install instructions, and Pete Jackson doesnt seem to have a web site.I have read posts on other sites that says do not put a used gear set on any motor other than what you originally had it on because after a while, it will sort of machine itself to that motor depending on the clearances, which sort of makes sense.the gear came with 4 different inserts to change the position on the cam gear. Which one do I use. Also, which side does the larger gear go on.Its Sunday morning, about 7:30. Im hoping to get the motor running today, so if anyone can post some quick help, id really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

Hi there,to my Knowlage the larger gear on the idler set should go on the thrust or driven side ( to take the load ) so when looking at the gear set, the larger gear would go on the left side, as for cam timing, if you are not going for anything specific , go straight up or the centered insert. The other iserts will advance or retard cam timing, and if I recall( check on this before you use it ) I think advanceing will give you more bottom end and retarding will give more top end.Keep in mind that this should not be played with without careful consideration if you have made big cam changes or milled heads ect.....
