i have an 86 s10 with a 7.5 rearend i want to change it to an 8.5 but not for sure years will fit or what it has to come out of http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

a 1992 ford explorer rear end bolts right in...

Don\'t hold me to it but, I think the S series 8.5 10 bolt rears started appearing around 1995. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

only problem is, its 6 inches to long. and you will have to have the axles redrilled. you cant offset the wheels enough to get the tires to fit under the sheetmetal, unless you run little skinny tires.
i have a nice one for sale if anyone is interested.

if you can live with the c-clip axles and the gear ratio that comes with the 8.5 you purchase, that would be the best bang for the buck. hard to give a rearend recomendation without telling us what kind of use, power and tires the truck will be running. i had a 7.5 running in the high 11\'s for over 300 passes before i put the 9 inch in.
