you wont need anything to go twelves.
Correct me if I\'m wrong, 11.49 to 10.00 all you need is a rollbar with 2 forward bars for a \"cage\"

11.49 - 10.0 you need a roll bar, unless you have removed the stock floor or firewall.
9.99 and quicker, or non stock floor or firewall requires a cage.

I have the Jegs 8 pt kit. Haven\'t put it in yet, so I don\'t know how well it fits. Usually the tubes and main hoop are long, so that you can cut them to fit. You have to weld to the frame or to brackets directly off the frame for them to be IHRA or NHRA legal.

that was the old cutoff. it changed 2yrs ago to 11.49 or 7.49 for the 1/8.
i personally like s&w cages. they are the best kit on the market. comes with outriggers and everything you need to install.

If you guys are interested in a S&W cage let me know. I live in the same town and might be able to get a discount for you. I spent enough money there for everybody lol. I also have a 8 point cage from S&W w/ swing outs. Not installed yet but did mock everything up. So far it fits like a charm.

My last time at the track i was running low 7.4\'s (1/8) and ive since lightened up the truck a lil more and got a brand new carb and cowl hood (its more aerodynamic now) instead of running with NO hood.
I want a cage and NEED a cage but im kinda nervous on doing one. Seems like a BIG project to tackle. Im basically running a stock suspension stock rear end street truck right now and i dont want to have to get a 9\" with a narrowed backhalf right now. So my question is...can i have a mininum requirement cage (8 pt?) installed on a stock framed s10? Do they just weld onto the floor of my truck? Man...im confused

Yes but not to the floor. You will have to drill through the floor and weld directly to the frame for it to be legal and also work the way its suppose too. If your a decent welder and can read a tape measure I\'m sure you can manage. I attached the directions for a cage or roll bar from S&W. I have like basic welding skills but i have good friends that absolutely kill to weld and they would LOVE to do this. I also have a couple older guys/friends that have built there own cars so they have experience. Could this be a pretty straightforward weekend project? Looks like i would remove rear window and seat and basically get to measuring cutting and welding.

you only need a 6 point cage 1FastBlack1. the 2 extra bars are to go to the back half.

even the kit is a big job. i must have 25-30 hrs completing mine. even more if you want to count the back window.

Awesome...so i can just have a 6pt. I dont want to do my backhalf yet anyways. Dont have the patience for the downtime, money or do i have the need for it yet.
In the pics i see that the main loop is wider than the frame itslef so you had to weld in a lil peice to mount it to the frame correct?

This is what you must have. Strait from NHRA rule book.
