Exhaust manifolds

OK. Plans changed from original design but here\'s where I\'m at. Instead of the 1989 block, I ended up with a pre-79 block with the dipstick near the cylinder deck instead of at the pan rail. Used the 87 Camaro manifolds. Well, guess what...the manifold goes where the dipstick needs to be. Really don\'t want headers but has anyone found an answer? I did end up farming out the work due to time constraints and find out about these problems the next morning. I have a short Lokar type dipstick coming but I really dont think it will work.

I used a tubing bender and put the dipstick between the head and the manifold. This makes the stick pretty hot and you will have to change the rubber insret under the handle on the dipstick to prevent leaks, but it will work. Have a set of mechanix gloves in your truck for this purpose.
