The stock rear probably won\'t hold up to a 350. Save yourself the headaches and get a good 9\" or 12 bolt or at least a 8.5\" 10 bolt third member w/ a posi.

wrong ....on two things ..first the camaro carrier will not fit the s10 carrier due to the spline count on the axle..and second the stock rearend is pretty darn strong ...my truck runs strong and it has the factory 7.5 rear end ...it just has a bad rep that came from people not seting up the rear end right and useing a stick (4-5 speed )...a automatic is a lot easyier on the u-joints and rear end...i seen a lot of camaros with the 7.5 and a lot of s10 with the 7.5 running way in the 11s with this set up ...i have seen a few broken parts on both ...but only after a lot of abuse... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

I was looking over my open 7 5/8\" and found a few small stress cracks where the axle tubes weld up to the center section. That is probably from the 4.3 because I haven\'t beaten on it to much w/ the 350. I\'ve seen diffs explode and axles break and axle tubes tear off the center section.

You can find a Zexel posi unit from the f-bodies for $99. They are a take out unit though.

Oh, and the mono leaf aint gonna cut it. I\'ve got terrible axle wrap with my dropped leaf springs. If you baggin it with a 350,Id\' recommend a ladder bar, or even better, a 4 link

Just for the record, i am going to go for the stock rearend record in a S10, if there is such a record!?! Just to see what it will handle. Right now it is looking like it will go into the 10\'s fairly easy, with my auto and 4000 stall.

hey chris zz4blazer ...im pretty sure that it can be done ..i have seen some darn fast s10 with that rear end ...let us know how it goes...my truck has a tunnel ram with 2 600 holleys with a soild cam and great heads with a good tranny and a high stall converter with slicks and 4.11 gears and i havet broken anything yet... lol... not to say that i want break something ...but so far it has been a year and many passes and a few 125 shot of nitious runs .....

Info please on a 95 4 cylinder automatic rearend. Has some kind of vibration damper on it. The truck is in a junkyard. It had a manual trans, and some kid swaped it out for his 95 automatic. The code on the glove box was GT5. Should be a 4.11. How can I tell without removing the pan? All info welcome. Thank you

These 7.5 rearends are plenty strong to hold up to the abuse. The only thing that I would say would hurt one would be a serious motor leaving on a tranny brake or a standard trans leaving hard on on the clutch. Save yourself from the added weight of a 9\" or 12 bolt and just use the 7.5 it will hold up just fine.
