I\'m thinking of going with a 350 tbi motor out of a truck. Sounds like emissions testing may come to pass here soon. Wondering if anyone has a set-up close to this or wants to share the times they have run with a gm tbi unit on it.
.30 over 350
9.0 compression
edelbrock emissions cam and tbi intake
454 tbi off a truck tricked out by me
custom chip
headers
Just trying to get at lest mid 13\'s with this combo using 3.42 gears. If not it\'s carb time baby. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I would think low 14\'s because with tbi you have a ceiling of around 300 horsepower unless you spend mega money. It may be carb time in my opinnion.

I\'ve been looking in on the 3rd gen camaro guys some. A few of them claim low 13\'s with a wroked GM tbi unit upgraded heads cam intake and custom chip. I\'ve seen a ton of these cars running at the strip and never seen any run this fast with tbi on it but thought I would see if anyone here has done it. I think some of the 3rd gen guys are giving 1000\' times instead of 1/4 http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif . See that was easy. One post just to talk me into putting my motor I already have in it. You really twisted my arm. It\'s all your fault http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif .

I apologize if I persuaded you to change a plan you had in mind, but I figure why lead a guy on and when all is said and done he is dissappointed with the set up,and has wasted alot of money only to spend more money to change it again. I would go with a carb if you can. if there is emission standards in your area, try fuel injection if you have the cash.

If emissions has not passed yet I would think you would be alright with a carb seeing as the swap was done before the law came into affect. But have papers showing when the swap was done just in case and run catilytic
converters to show that you are trying to be environmentally friendly.

most emission laws state that the engine must be same year or newer or the vehicle will automatically fail. it depends on were you live but you better make sure!

not to be a bastard to icequeen, but read the amount spent using tpi, 35000 is alot of money even if it is canadian.

wild85 I boxed my fram switched to fibergl fenders and hood had special sway bars made swapped out my axle and driveshaft for brand new and started with a fresh 98 Vortec block did all the wiring myself and computer programming bought rubber for my truck so yeah you can spend a lot of money on a truck it wasnt just the engine swap! that aslo included getting the truck on the road.
and to answer your question I run 11 & 12\'s on street rubber http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

255x16x50 front 275x16x50 back
sucks to drive on ice lol
I get some wheelie but druck low enough and heavy enough in the front that I dont need wheelie bars yet Im running around 550HP and 473ft/LBS on 97 Octane with my current computer setup and I go through a tank of gas driving it on and off in 3 days lol
top speed is 246KM/h
My next upgrade is a magnacharger blower assembly. and Im thinking about probably taking it and lifting it and converting it to a duellie 4x4 and Im sure everyones going to say Why! but speed isn\'t everything I want to show some of my offroading buddies what a dinky little s10 can do agains there toys and ford crap http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif and besides I wonder wehat kind of ET\'s I could get against other 4x4 in the quarter mile lol.

While you guys have been fighting it out,ha I had a few brews to think it over. I do really want to go carb. The law is motor same year as truck or newer and emissions off the year of body. I\'m just hoping they won\'t p it. I f they do I\'ll worry about that when it comes. I run my own machine shop so not much money into the motor anyway just never have the time to do my own stuff. Have to pay the bills ya know. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif . I have sold off most of the shop while I\'ve been recovering from a complete shoulder reconstruction due to a racing accident. Best therapy I had was driving my high 12\'s camaro today before I sold it,ha. I gave that guy a ride his kids won\'t forget. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif When the good Dr. tells me I can get back to work again I\'m going to start over with equipment as alot of the stuff was getting dated anyway. My wife says I can get a new ck10 from sunen. That will be just fine honey. We have been fighting over what going in the blazer. No air for me air for her. 3.73 gears for me 3.42 for her. nasty roller cam for me 270 comp cam for her. Well I think I\'m going to win somw as I just sent for a non a/c box and the cam is a custom grind 480/ 510 lift and single plane 7546 intake. Sorry honey,ha http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif . I really need to learn more about the injected GM stuff as alot of customes run that on street cars and I need to have some more testing on some of the stuff I\'d like to do. As for tpi I only wanted to do injection to be legal and it has to be tbi to p the visual inspection they have if they do it. tpi gets expensive to go fast( past low 13\'s) so I\'d p anyway. Most of the injection (stock type) I\'ve worked with has been on the Mustangs. Several of my customers have stock block cars running high 10\'s. Get ready for some free ashtrays I tell them but they just keep going.
I\'m off to my secret labritory http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif .

Icequeen, ice does suck I break loose on a clear highway at 110kph, I am running 205 winter tires, one legger with trac bars. I cannot stop properly because my truck keeps pushing me forward and spinning with brakes fully applied, and the breaks are all new, so i think I need an aftermarket proportion valve. What make and model are your tires?

There goodyear GTII\'s I have two sets of them might be selling my winter set which I never bothered to put on the truck. winters are 225 front 245 back 50/16 rim.
