Sorry, most of you think this has probably been thoroughly covered, but I searched through threads all morning and haven\'t found exactly what I\'m looking for.

I want to replace my 2.2L that\'s getting pretty worn with 125,000 miles. And would like to drop in a V8.

Please recommend the easiest and least expensive option, and a general idea of what all will need to be replaced.

I will be assisted by a fairly skilled relative. - About how many hours would be involved.

A/C would be nice - don\'t care about power steering.

I\'m not in California, so carborator is not a problem.

Many of the other forums contain what you just asked but a few things not fully covered with regards to the 2.2 you\'ll have to run new fuel line since the 2.2 uses very small line compared to the 4.3 just a good thing to do. second I would recommend welding your frame side mounts to the frame and bolt them this will ensure strength and reliability. if your truck has the newer 2.2 you\'ll have a box mounted to the frame on the left hand side this is a regulator you can remove this and discard it. Everything else is the same as any other swap.

mounts, tranny, fans, computer and harness, (talk to Ice Queen for the wiring harness and computer) headers, all of the front accessores like the alternator and stuff.

I have spent like 1700 dollars on my 4.3 to sbc but my truck is the cheapest way to go, due to the similarities between the 4.3 and the 5.7 vortec\'s. I still havn\'t got a harness yet so that will add like 3-4 hunnred.

Give yourself a budget of like 4000 - 4500 for the 4 cly conversion, don\'t be surprised if you go over 5 k. once you tear into it you will see what I mean.

I just did this same install.... I have a 1994 s10 that came with a 2.2. I went with TBI, so I had to do all the wiring. And about the fuel lines, I kept my same lines from the 2.2 and it runs strong, so IceQueen, your comment is invalid http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif.

If you want you can talk to me on msn or yahoo. My comp\'s on all day, I check it now and then...
