this has been happening to guys at cecil county dragway in maryland. It made me think about what i run. Just remember those VW tires you run are only rated for 83 MPH! Im going to buy me a set of ET drag front tires.

i know but alot of people dont including me. Ive run the same VW tires for the past 4 years no problems. I know guys going 150 MPH on them, thats almost double the rating with no problems. It will come back to get you sometime.

Damn, i thought someone was gonna be saying something about the wheels cracking..skinny draglites or prostars on the street or something, (i\'ve \"HEARD\" of it happening) but now i know and see i dont\' wanna be running in the 1/4 definitely on those tires, BUT GUYS, we\'re all pretty smart on here, A: we\'re on a computer, B:, we go on here and share info and C: we put a v8 into a truck it wasn\'t intended for and GO PRETTY fast, so can we PLEAse start to put specifics instead of just VW tires cuz i\'m SUuure their\'s some people that come on here and don\'t really know what your talking about, or what even VW stands for...I DO KNOW, but i bet SOME DOn\'t, more specifically the tire brand and size, and i know they put them on vw rims i guess cuz the tire salesman said something about it when i bought and had the tires mounted, i\'m pretty sure mine are kelly radials...forget the size, oh

and those wheel and tires are just sitting for right now, i had xtremes on before i started the swap, the draglites were on my nova, oh

BTW, the draglite skinnies weighed 25 lbs apiece with tires, versus the xtreme 16 inch rims which weighed 47 lbs apiece..including tires, i posted that info a little ago just thought maybe some might not of seen,

Mine are T rated, I think that is over 100 mph.

The most common ones are 165sr/15. We call them VW tires because that is what most of them were designed for. you need to look at the load rating and speed rating of any tire you buy. I seen a tube chassis Fiero running 9.90\'s last weekend with 165sr/15 tires on the front. If you look half the people at the track are running them. I will repost some pictures of what happened when mine let go at 115 mph.

Isnt a S rating 112? It has been a while since I sold tires, but I thought it was. Also, the speed rating has more to do with a tire retaining its shape than heat. The load rating on these small tires is what I think causes any problems.
