carguy, i\'m having problems with my secondaries flooding from the transfer slot, checked all the easy stuff like float position and linkages i just cant figure out whats wrong with it and the only place around ere that will even look at the thing wants 100 bucks just to tear it down and see if they can figure it out, i dont feel like spending 100 bucks on a 25 year old carb when i could just spend 250 on a rand new holley.

I ordered a new holley carb back in the day and the damn thing was junk from day one, so I sent it back.
as far as flooding goes it could be one of three possibilities:
1. dirt on the needle & seat assembly
2. floats set too high
3. fuel pressure more than 8-9 psi
if dirt is the problem you\'ll never set the float because fuel will keep feeding into the bowl. it\'s best to replace the assembly because sometimes the dirt embeds itself into the neoprene needle. should be a 30 minute fix.

Exactly. But I know from your other thread that the needles and seats are new. Presuming the fuel pressure is OK, pull out the secondary needle & seat check \'em over and reinstall. Don\'t expect to actually SEE the debris causing the problem. Most times it\'s something friggin\' microscopic.

ya i know what you mean about being microscopic lol. i\'ve had this problem before with every other carb i have be it the lawnmower or the outboard i\'ve had to clean needle and seats more times than i care to remember. i\'m about to just retire it to the spare parts shelf, i bid on the same carb except its off a 77 international 345 hopefully its just another universal square bore throttle plate, if not i\'m only paying 25.00 total for it so its not really a huge loss, i have to pay for it with change since my fiancee found out exactly where all my money goes lol
