driveshaft- will a stock drive shaft work? from v6 2.8 automatic

Hey, would a stock driveshaft work, I had a v6 2.8 in my 83 s10, and I just dropped a 350 into it, with a turbo 350 tranny, stock rearend, would the stock driveshaft work? it only sticks in about 2.5 inches, how much are they supposed to stick in, thanks a lot

sounds like the same setup I have, I just split the diffrence between the trans and the carrier bearing, been ok for over 2 years now, set the engine back as far as you can to get more bite.
