I recently finished my s-10 and have the hei igniton. It ran for a good 3000 miles then all of a sudden the distributor started making a loud hearing aid squealing noise. it is not a machanical squeel. and would not accept acceleration or go over 30 MPH. I replaced the distributor module, cap, rotor, and wire with all MSD. it lasted for about 3 weeks and not it still does it perodically.

any one else have this problem?

PLEASE HELP!! i can\'t drive it this way!!!

Thanks

Josh

Sounds like the shaft is binding down in the motor--- pull it out and check for play. and wear on the gear

OK i checked the play and the teeth. the teeth have a even constant pattern.

I checked side play and in and out play and everything was tight.

think maybe the radio might be back feeding through the distributor?

Not sure about that--- i have had electrical interference in my radio but , never the other way around. find a wooden dowel about 3 feet long or even a long screwdriver -- use it like a stethascope and try to find the exact area the noise is coming from.

the noise is comming directly from the cap. listening from the sides and top it seems to be the coil making the noise.

but it is new and the old coil did the same.

I tried a direct power from the battery to see if maybe the power has a problem but no good still does it with a differant power.
