I have a 86 with a big block in it. the frame has been narrowed with the stock leaf springs and was wondering if lowering leaf springs are going to affect traction any. Will the weight transfer be the same as stock leaf springs or will it be stiffer. Should i go with blocks or the springs.

A lot of guys have had success with removing a leaf or two to accomplish lowering. But doing that makes it imperative that you have good traction bars.
......... Will lowering springs help or hinder traction? (or any other method of lowering) Too many variables to say. Good traction can be an illusive goal. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

I have no clue if this help or not but here it is I lowed mine 4\" in the back with blocks and 4\" drop spindles in the front and I have never had a problem with traction and it became a lot stiffer but I have a sbc with 410hp and 435 ft pd of torque but like I said I dont know if this helps

lowering blocks have been proven to cause axle wrap,2\" block should be the max then use drop springs or remove a few and/or put the overload spring onto the top of the spring pack
