Anybody done this? Is it possible? I found a guy around here that has a set of convo pros 3.5\" on the front and 10\" for the back. He don\'t know the back spacing off hand. I am going to look at them. Does anybody have any idea if a 10\" rim can work with stock suspension if the backspacing is right??
Help, Hurry, Please!!
Also I have a for sale/wanted add on here!
Thanks, Stroker1

I have 4 1/2 back spacing on rear 8 inch wheel----- 275 60 tire------- you can use a 10 inch wheel but-- you WILL have tire rub on the inside if u use more than 5 inch backspacing and even that may not work. You ill have tire stickin out from under the fender if u use a 10 inch wheel. to be safe -- go with 4 1/2 backspace--- tire size will also matter

I have 8\" rims and 3.75\" backspacing and 10\" tire. My sidewall sticks out about 1/2\" and I have 1/2\" clearance between the tire and the frame. I know a 10\" wheel would not work on mine. But There are some on here that are using 10\" wheels with the right back spacing and tire combo.

I have 10 inch rims and I am running a a E/T Street thats 28\"x 11.5\"x 15\" and its dropped three inches. The only thing I had to do was remove my slapper bars and cut some stock off the rear of them.

I went and took some pics of the rear.
Looking down at how much tire sticks out. (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y66/luvinnc/Picture181.jpg)

I talked to him again and he says he is pretty sure they are 5 or 5.5 backspace. I know 5.5 wan\'t work. I don\'t know about 5 but I am gonna have to see if he will let me take one and try it before we deal. Just so happens they have a set of 10.5 slicks on them so should be easy to tell.
Thanks alot fellas! When I don\'t need something everybodys got some of \'em. And when I need it nobody ain\'t got it. Or just had some. Thats just life.

5.5\" BS will work on a 2wd truck.
1st or 2nd gen. Stock or lowered height.
I have personally done this. Will work fine on a 1st gen truck with up to a 12.5\" tire.

Hey blazer--- I was just lookin under my truck--- What size tire works on that 10 inch wheel--5.5 backspace---that wont rub inside? It must be a tire that doesnt come out past the lip of the wheel !! I measured from the lip of the wheel to the spring--I can see where the 5.5 will not hit the spring--- but the tire must be flush with the wheel in order not to rub. Could u shed some lite on this for me?

My bfg drag radials measured a total width of 12 1/4\" wide. Had them on a set of 15x10\" welds with 5.5\" BS. Never had any problems with them rubbing. (just incase you didnt do the math, thats 1\" wider on both sides of the wheel)
Like I said, I know you can do atleast 12\" overall width tire on a 10\" wheel without problems. Should be able to get about a 12.5\" max
Unless you have some crazy uncontrolable body roll, you should have no problems. And if you do,(that bad of body roll that the body rubs the tires) Id slow the * down in the corners.
On my 2nd gen truck, I also have a 10\" wheel with 5.5\" BS. 1st and 2nd gen frames are nearly identical. Width and suspension is the same. Yet, 2nd gen body\'s are wider, allowing for more tire in the wheel well.
On this truck, I\'ve got 18x10\" wheel and 315/30/18\" tire without problems as well.

Its not always the tread width that matters either. Each slick has a diffrent center section width. The sidewall of the slick usually sticks out more then the tread and is the first thing to rub. some tires have wider center sections then others. My 28x10.5x15 ET streets have the same center section width as my 28x11.5x15 ET drags.

Exactly. Thats what Im just about any post I write about this....it ALWAYS says the tires TOTAL width. Not just xxxxxxx tire size.
For example, my bfg drag radials are a lot wider than the regular bfg\'s I have of the same size.
