I am building a 305 for it witch should be pretty nice in it. but im looking at what kinda suspension i should really use for this i wanna lower it a tad bit not to much. And i also wanna know anybody oppion about if i should try to find a straight drive to go back in or go with a automatic. and also am i going to have to do any thing with the rear end.

Sounds like you need some lowering blocks for the rear--- maybe drop spindles for the front the rear end should be fine like it is with the 305... I would go with a 350 tranny-- but it depends on what you like.

Well i kinda would like a straight drive because i think straight drive is much funner to drive but if i have to switch to a automatic i willl. That was the orignal plan is to put automatic because people told me it would get more life out the motor with a automatic idk how true this is. Should i look for suspension stuf for a v6 possible or what? I know the suspension on the truck now is shot.

if you just want to drop a little just go with a set of 2\" drop springs in the front and 3\" drop blocks in the rear. when you buy the 2\" drop springs for the front buy them for the 4.3 v6 truck. as far as a standerd trans or auto?? that depends on you. an auto is easy. your trans wont work unless you buy a $400 adapter and then its so weak compared to a 4.3 or v8 trans you WILL break it. so you need to buy a new trans anyway auto or stick. oh and your rear will be just fine.

I know my tran. wan work i was just seeing if any body had any options about if Auto Trans would make the motor last longer or if it really makes a difference?

It all depends on how you drive it. Manual verses auto makes no difference as far as I\'m concerned. If you constantly beat on the motor its gonna die faster no matter what trans you have. A turbo 350 is the easiest of all the swaps, but there are some people with manuals out there too. Do yourself a favor and buy the JTR swap manual.

i personally love the t-5 ive got in mine. yea yea yea yea yea its \"weak\" but i know i beat on my truck pretty often and still no breakage lol. in my opinion why spend all the time and labor putting a v8 in an s10 if its not a manual, its much much much more fun jamming the gears in em lol.

well what is a good manual transmission that will be good and will hold up other than the t5?
