is it common on the 4.3 to see a problem like this? my 2000 is making a clattering noise. 40psi at idle 60psi driving. rocker arms are tight it started on my wife last night but she said when the motor was warm the noise went away. i went outside just now to check it out and when i started it the noise was there. it sounds like a loose rocker no engine knock or anything like that. i was thinking a std pulled out of the head some but it looks like its a pedistal mount setup? i can tear it down and replace the lifters but i was just wondering if this is common?

well it is a collapsed lifter. which one? what side? im going to try some heavy weight oil and some lucas. i might even throw some engine restore in there if that doesnt solve the problem as a temp fix the 2000 is going to florida to see LS1blazer sooner then planned http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

how do you know for sure it is a collapsed lifter?

i pulled both valve covers and checked the rockers they are all nice and tight the motors never been touched sinse i've had it. and like i said the noise its like a loose rocker sounds before you tighten it. then when the motor warms up the lifter must be getting pumped up from there because the noise stops and it stays gone. maybe its just got some gunk stuck in it and not allowing it to pump up?

that's like what happened to my fullsize, but i had only two or three good lifters, the rest where bad. they had crud built up in them over the years. how many miles does the blaze have?

try the engine restore first. one time i helped put in a used motor and it had a lifter just hammering and the guy had a whole case of restore. dumped it in with it running and it started to quiet down almost immediately.
