As I start into my 454 conversion I\'ve come to the conclusion that the best motor mounts to use would be the flat plates that bolt to the frame in place of the original mounts. These in turn take stock late model v8 mounting pads and clam shells. I can\'t use the JTR or Advance mounts that bolt onto the block because on the drivers side there are a few risers on the side of the block having to do with the oil gallery which runs down that side of the block.
What I wanted to know is if anyone has drawings of those plates or has a set they can trace (or sell cheap).
I\'m trying to do this whole project for under 2000 and spending $65 + shipping for those plates will hurt the budget. I have access to a well equipped shop that has steel bandsaws and drill presses, etc. So I should have no trouble making them. Besides the guy who owns the garage owes me.
So far I have a rust free 84 Longbox with 84,000 certified miles, a Goodwrench rebuilt
L19 454 and a used 700r4 from an 89 3/4 ton van for $1289. If I can keep the little pieces under $700 it should be possible. Not probable but possible. Making these plates would be a big step in maintaining the budget. I have the original v8 mounts and clamshells from old projects, so the plates should be all I need. I do plan to weld them in and put braces under them once I get everything fitted.
