Are these combinations stock in a 7 5/8\'s rear end? And what would be the most likely vehicle that one would find it in at a salvage yard?

88 and newer 4x4, or if you want reall bad gears like 3.08\'s you can check a astro minivan out, also some camaro\'s had like 3.42\'s and 3\'73\'s that will bolt in, gm did make a posi 7.625 diff

Contrary to most beliefs, most 4x4\'s were not posi. You\'d have the same chance to find one in a 2wd.
My buddy has a factory posi unit in his 94 camaro with his 7 5/8\'s. That year, and 6 speed, they only came with 3.42 gears.
If your looking for a used posi, I\'d try and find one out of an F-body.
Or you can buy a new SLP take out zexel for $99. They aren\'t the strongest, you\'ll end up breaking one around 450-500 lbs of tq. But, around that much power, your pushing the limits of a 7 5/8\" rear end no matter what parts are in it.

when lookin in the \'yards for limited slip rears from s10s...... look in the glovebox....... the newer s10s the code is G80......... the 1st gen prolly is the same code....... that should help a little....... most if not all of the 4.3 s10s have limited slip............ my crappy 2.2 didnt so i swapped a zexel unit in....... but wit 4.10 gears and the zexel unit u have to grind the center block a little to get it to fit because of the ring gear.......
so if i pull a 7.625 out of the junk yard does it matter if it is limited slip or one legger. Can I just buy the zexel unit and make it posi either way. Also the only way to tell what gears are in it is from taking the cover off?

I belive there\'s numbers stamped on the housing. But, thats not always correct. I\'d just pull the cover off to be positive on the ratio.
The zexel will fit any of the 7.5\'s or 7.625\'s. But, you\'ll need the 28 spline axles from a 7 5/8\'s if you have the 7.5\" with the 26.
But, you need to run 3.23-4.10 gears with it. The 4.10s do require modifying, or you can buy the kit for it

so did any gm cars/trucks come with a 7.5 26 spline posi from factory?
Or are the 7.5 and 7.625 the same? Just curiuous, as i thought i\'d make a trip to the boneyard and see what vehicles they had there and maybe i could find one, so i was sort of wondering what to look for.

Many GM vehicles came with the 7.5 rear end. The 7.6 and the 7.5 are the almost exactly the same. the overall diamter of the ring gear is .125 larger than the .5. The gears do intechange. One differance is the carriers. the 3.23 and numericly lower use the same carrier. The 3.42 and larger (up to 4.56) use the same carrrier. I believe its a 3 seris.
As for application Gm put the 7.5 in the mid 70\'s small body Montes and Regals. Also the 82 thru production end. F-bodys - Camaro and Firebird. The 94 and newer were usually the 7.625. The 7.6 had 28 spline and the 7.5 had 26. Both came with posi units. The s10 4x4 have the choice 3.73 and 4.11 in them though.
