I took my truck to our local 1/8th mile track, it was grudge matches (10.00 dollars to watch or race). Anyhow I was pleased that I did not break anything. Before anybody says anything my truck has the stock 7.5 rearend with 3.08 gears in it. I have a 8.8 with 3.73 lsd to go in it, also it was on street tires with about 3/4 throttle. The cable is not letting it open all the way. So I know I need to do so work but I figured I would see. Anyway here is the time 8.75@85.66 with a 60ft time of 2.256 and a 330ft time of 5.867. I babied it off the line and spun bad in second and also went through the traps in second. Next time we go it will have the 8.8 and 28x10 slicks on it with a new throttle cable. What do you guys think about it so far? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

I think that is pretty respectable considering. Get the rear swapped and some slicks, right throttle cable and you can be in the 7's pretty easy. It only gets faster from here on out!

hey man, not bad at all. that trap speed is promising, you'll be knocking on 7's for sure with traction (given the trap speed and room for improvement on top of that). traction can be a * until you get some real tires... i used to think I would never hook, and then I bought some ET Drags that changed my mind.

We are hoping with the rearend change and a new throttle cable it will go atleast 7.75 on slicks. Just bringing the 60ft time down should almost put it in the 7s. Factor in going from a 3.08 open rearend to a 3.73 lsd should make a huge difference. I have a Speed Demon 750 with the progressive linkage on it and the current cable only opens the carb about 3/4 open. So I should gain some with a new cable. My buddy that was in the pits said it spun about 50 to 60 feet when I hit second gear. So I (7.75) should be very realistic, anything faster than that will be a bonus. Also I think it will trap a little higher speed going into high gear. What do you"ll think? I can tell this, I sold a 94 Z28 6speed to build this truck and this truck is (way) faster than the Z28 was. Plus it gets alot more looks from people.

sounds like your on your way. 86mph with traction should get you in the high 7's http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

You should definitly be in the 7's. I would stay with the 26" tire though. With the 373's you will go through the traps at only about 4300 in the 1/8th and 6000 in the 1/4.
