I've got the 454 installed. With the heads on I notice the steering shaft is in the way of putting any exhaust on. Any help on fixing this? 85 s15 4wd Jimmy http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

look to the left. click on myspace and then click on new folder. all you have to do is upload a pic to there. then you click on the pic when its uploaded and copy the address. then you come back here and click post reply when the window opens and you can post a reply then you click on the black button that says image. when it comes up you paste the address there and then you just submit the reply. there will be a link added to your post that people can click on and see your pic.

does the steering knuckle go past the last exhaust port? or is it even with the exhaust port? its hard to tell from the pic. also where does the motor sit right now? forward position? all the way back or just kinda in there?

I am wondering also where is the motor positioned? I have never seen a BBC S-10 without a custom steering shaft or a custom column. I hope you're a good fabricator. I am posting some pics of my steering column. Maybe it will spark your imagination. In any case I think you will have to at least make a new steering shaft, and slot the holes in the firewall so you can slide the column over as far as you can. You have got your work cut out for you.

ummmm.....get a steering shaft from a 1987-1991 ford F-150 like it says in the book(p.7-29), it's a little skinnier and move it over(p.7-5).....like it says in the book.

I made a little more room by dropping engine down and back and moed steering column over. The steering shaft still sits in the middle of the last port. With the exhaust mainifold on I still need to move column over. I thought about useing universal joints from fullsize chevy van steering.

what kind of headers are those in your pic stroker1? where do you get them?

If you have to, there are oversize rod ends that you can get to support the steering shaft so you can put a joint in the middle. The rod ends are like you would use on the end of ladder bars and such. Except the hole in the end is oversized to allow a peice of 3/4 DOM tubing to slide thru. Then you can make a bracket for the rod end to attach to. It will support the steering shaft and you can put a joint in the middle and run it around the manifolds. I wish I could explain it better. I've seen it done alot on mustangs with big blocks.
Regardless, I realize you will still have to get the knuckle further away from the rear port. Maybe use a smaller diameter joint like in the pic I posted earlier. Just use it on the top of the steering shaft where mine is at the steering box.

Sorry, I missed your last post. I was typing. They are Hedman fenderwell headers for small block. I got them from Jegs.
