I just traded for a new 350 engine. I would like to find out approx. how much hp I'm looking at. The literature I recieved with the engine states that it is a 1975 block with stock internal workings with a 370 hp corvette cam, valve size 1.94-1.5, edlebrock performer rpm intake with a edelbrock 600 cfm performer carb, electronic distributor. Other than a set of headers that's about it. I'm hoping for about 300 hp but I feel that may be pushing it. Would appreciate any input.

300 HP? Probably.

Sounds like a nice setup. I'd say that the heads are the question mark. I don't know much about the old iron heads, but if you can get a casting #, some other guys here can determine if they're good, or just OK heads for your combo.

......... Did a major shop build the motor? If so, don't they have HP estimates?

BTW, that 370 HP cam, is that a solid lifter cam?

The casting # on the heads is 333882. The motor was pro built to go into a showcar of one of the locals. He in turn decided to go with a big block crate motor and traded the 350 for body work we done on his showcar. Since then all info on the 350 has been lost. The only thing I remember from the build sheet was the 370 hp corvette cam. You are right when you said solid lifters when refering to the 370 hp corvette engine but my engine has hydraulics so I am at a loss when it comes to the cam. I am going to try and trace it back to the original builder to see if he remembers the engine. Thanks for your help and as I find out more I will post it.
