Ok, I have a corvette rad with two 10" fans from some old car on it (buddy had these fans sitting around). I have the two fans wired straight to the ignition and they are constantly on when I turn the key. I recently had to replace my alternator, and I occasionally have problems with the truck continuing to run for a few seconds after I try to turn it off. Could the fans be causing this problem?

I read some threads and found that the fans could be causing the truck to keep running for a couple of seconds because they are acting as generators while they are still spinning and are feeding the ignition. Would I need a diode/relay or both to solve this problem? I'll be honest, I've never done anything electrical with a vehicle before, and I don't even know what a relay looks like, so I'd be pretty stumped if I was to go purchase one, never mind try to install one.

Also, has anyone bought and installed the temperature sensor from this site that automatically turns on your fans at a desired temp? Was it hard to install? My truck has A/C, could I still use the temp sensor?

I don't like FORD, but this article (http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2003/02/electricfan/index.php) is a good one. There is diagrams and part numbers to help. There should be a relay and a diode installed. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
