My son is building me a 400HP 350, 2800 stall 700R4 in a 90 4.3 Extreme w/AC. I have ordered all the parts except cooling. I can't decide which way to go due to all the forums I've read. Logic sez to try the 4.3 radiator, mechanical fan, shroud, and rev. rotation 350 water pump but prior experience with an 86/350 sez corvette rad. and Flexi 210. I feel this style S10 will cool much better with the V8 than the old style. All the stuff out there is confusing. This is a daily commuter and I want it right the first time. Any help? Need to order soon!

I used the corvette radiator in the forward position on my first build and it cooled fine with an engine driven fan, did get a little warmer than I like in summer traffic with the AC on. You can see this build in my pics.
I now use a Superior Radiator (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/S10-S15-V8-Conversion-2-Row-Aluminum-Radiator-NEW_W0QQitemZ110161230054QQihZ001QQcategoryZ33602Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) in the forward position with dual electric Spal puller fans with no heating problems at all. Hope this helps good luck on the build http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

I goofed. Typo on paperwork. It's a 2000 S10 LS extended cab with Xtreme pkg, 4.3, auto, AC. Sorry I misled. I am still considering a cooling solution that uses the stock HD radiator. The taurus fan and switch/thermometer looks interesting. Any help appreciated.

You could use the stock 4.3 radiator with one or two good electric fans andshouldnt have a problem.

I am installing the Taurus fan and using the stock radiator to start with. It just seems logical. Finding the right relays and thermostatic control locally is now the problem. Thanks for the responses, and I will post a how it goes on the progress.

Painless wiring sells a kit with a relay and temp switch that screws into the intake.

i used the 4.3 rad and taurus fan with good results.make sure that the electrical system isgood as this fan pulls 30+ amps, and go with the oe 195 deg thermostat!

Thanks..Can some of you give me a heads up on the constant duty hi-power relays that are needed? I've read about NAPA, Radio Shack, Bosch, Ford starter solenoids and others. Trying to find a combo that works at a good price is difficult.

I used the corvette radiator and a 95 contour V6 fan and shroud. The shroud needs minor triming to fit. I also bought the adjustable relay that o'reily's sells for their electric fans. Works great.
The fan is a 2 speed setup. I haven't quite figured out how to run different fan speeds. I works fine on high.

After a lot of consideration and forum reading, I ordered the following:
1. Derale DER-16739 180on/170off fan control with 3/8" NPT temp. probe
2. Derale DER-16749 Adjustable fan control with 3/8" NPT temp. probe
3. 2-Bosch 0-332-002-156 75 amp relays
The temp. probes will go in the intake on a 3/8" "X" NPT fitting with the top capped for bleeding out air. (Derale tech gave me that info). The Bosch relays relpace the ones with the Derale controllers to give higher current ratings for the Taurus fan. The lo-speed will come on at 180 or with the AC, and I'll adjust the hi-speed with trial and error to control overheating. An added feature of the Bosch relays is they have diodes installed. I hope it works out. Will know soon. Thanks all.
