yeeeeeeehaaaaawww! i found an 87\' S10 with a \"4 tech\" 4 cylinder, 5 speed, lots of dents, horrible interior, decent factory rims, tires that seem to hold air, factory 4\" tall pinstripes down the sides with S10 in them, and steering thats looser than a goose! $400 and she\'s mine! oh, i almost forgot the slightly smashed passenger fender, missing headlight grille piece, and leaky rear wheel cylinder. =-D hehe. it really isn\'t a bad truck for the money though. definitely a fixer upper. i currently have $810 in the bank. -400 for the truck leaves me with $410. i plan on parking it for awhile until it gets warmer. what is the first thing i should start with? i want it to be a 350/350 combo one day.. my thoughts were to start with the front end and get that all tightened up.. because its really squirrely. i could see me going off the road and hitting a tree real easily. the windshield is cracked as well. no stereo. passenger door binds real bad. i have a question about that.. could i put a new pin and bushing in the top hinge? that would fix it, but can it be done? alright thats all i got for now. thanks for listening to my story. give me some input if you wanna =) cheers.

kinda sounds like mine when i first got it. I started with the suspension and steering...safety first. I went through and replaced about anything and everything. I droped it to while i was under there. After that i did the brakes and rearend. then i moved onto the motor and trans, now i\'m up to the body. Only took me three years..but i\'m almost done...lol. Good luck, sounds like you got a good project to start with.
sounds like a nice project, but doesnt that seem sorta pricy in that shape? Im lookin at this truck tomorrow for $1000. No leaks no rust no dents nice interior.

Anyone with a 2wd s10 please contact me!!!!
Im 17, and i have no cash.
Dude, nice to know its gonna get saved. But, if i was you, give the guy 200 bucks. Not to sound rude, but i belive your gonna get ripped. I bought my truck with dents, no rust, new tires, new exhaust, new cap/rotor, new white fibergl camper top, 233k on it, and i payed 700 bucks for it. AND! All i did was clean the truck up, and it passed emissions and inspection. So basically, i bought a truck for 700 bucks, and it was perfectly fine. Still running good. 5 speed. 4 cylinder. roy

i am in rives junction, 10 miles north of jackson. in michigan, a clean 16 year old vehicle is worth quite a bit. i bought an 83 ford ranger a few years ago. brakes sucked, body was horridly rusty.. $400.(sold it to my mom who bailed me out for $500) This S-10 is pretty fricken clean for a michigan vehicle. the motor starts easily, it stops, shifts, turns nice. you can\'t expect a whole helluva lot for $400 these days. so i bought it today (Monday).. hope i didn\'t get too screwed =-( . can i fix that passenger door easily with a new pin in the top hinge or not?

You can find that pin and bushing for the door at your local parts store or even the dealer they are not that expensive.
I got mine for $750. It had a blown up 4 cyl in it. The entire interior is in perfect condition except it is missing the head unit, and the body is in real good shape too. It may have been a little pricey, but better that then pay alot more for one that was running. All I was going to do was pull the motor out wether it ran or not. I had been looking for a 1st gen, 2 wheel drive, standard cab, short bed s-10 with a good body for longer than I can remember, so when I found this one I snatched it right away.
