I am ready to wire a Taurus 2-speed fan with two Derale Thermostatic switches, one for eash speed. I have looked at many schematics in the forums, but I still have this question: Do you power both speeds of the fan at the same time for Hi-speed, or is the Taurus fan designed to have power applied only to one speed at a time?

The Taurus fan is wired with one ground and two hot wires. The two hot wires is the two speeds. Do not tie the two hot wires together. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I found my answer in another forum. If you operate both speeds at the same time, it reduces the fan speed due to the shunted windings. Some people do this, but it creates heat in the fan motor, and wastes current. This could also explain the fan motor and alternator failures. I will post my schematics and results as soon as we complete the installation. Thanks for the replies.
