I am swapping a carbureted 350/700R4 into a 2000 4.3 w Auto and AC. I want to retain stock guages and electrical functions? What can I do to the wiring harness to clean it up and still retain vital functions?

You are going to have to purchase a book on the year truck you have and really sit down and study the wiring diagrams. You'll end up taking most of the wiring apart and using just what you need. Alot of the wiring runs out of and back into the computer in a crazy circle. Seems a little overwhelming. The good thing is that the wiring is the same as several other years so there has to be someone out there that can help.

Although this isn't necessarily an answer to your question, this may help some.

Take a look at this recent thread.

I like GS97's reply.

Thanks for the info, and yes I read that post. I have a Haynes, but it's schematics are too basic (I have electronics background). I'm not going to cut anything until I'm sure it's not needed. My son is getting the Alldata schematics for me. We are working on the basics now; engine guages and speedometer. I'll clean it up later.
