Just thought I\'d throw this out for comments. Last night I bought a radiator

off ebay for $165. Here\'s the description:

Summer\'s just around the corner and this year you\'ll need additional cooling! Fits Street Rods, CircleTrack Racers and

Street Cars. This is a Used but \"like New\" \"Delphi\" Griffin Racing Radiator for MAX COOLING. Comes from one of the top

GM Winston Cup Teams. IT\'s a all aluminum radiator 17\" high, 28\" Long. Sells new for over $700. Very easily handles

over 800 HP. The griffin Radiator provides maximum cooling efficiency and features the a heavy duty core with double

louvered plate fin design, 1-1/4\" tube diameter. Also provides high end professional performance when cooling

demands are critical. Most of these radiators are special order only and are what you find on most NASCAR Cars.

I don\'t know how to put a picture in here so I\'ll describe it. Both inlet and outlet are on the passenger side, it has no transmission cooler, definately is all aluminum and appears to be 3+\" thick. What got my attention was the size of

17x28. It should fit right into the radiator support opening with little or no trimming. Seems I measured that hole and it\'s like 16-1/2 x 30-1/2. Also I like the part about cooling 800HP. Should handle the 454 with no problem. As far as the inlet being on the right, I figured to use one of those swivel withan O ring

type thermostat housing. You can point them anywhere andthey are getting

reasonably priced lately. Under $20.

They had 3 yesterday, but I just looked and unfortunately they\'re all sold. Do you think it will work? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif I plan on running aStewart high volume water pump,

I\'ve got one on my 305 and the thermostat hasn\'t opened since I put it on. I did find every loose clamp quickly. Drip, drip, drip.

I\'m using a Griffen 4-core aluminum radiator and I still overheat when on the highway. In the city or idling it runs 175-180 but out on the highway the faster I got the hotter it gets. My guess is the radiator is so thick air can\'t be forced through it at high speeds and it \"stalls\" tha air inside it and all the cool air goes right over the hood. Try the thinner 2 core first.

What water pump are you using? Maybe it\'s cavitating.

sounds like you took out the thermostat..water traveling too fast to cool off

I\'m using a 170 degree thermostat and running a high flow cast iron Summit Racing pump. Thing is at 35MPH in the city I turn 3500RPM and at 70MPH I turn 3500RPM.

I recently put in a Griffin aluminum. The one you see in summit for $189. I couldnt be more pleased. I sit in traffic, never going above 190 degrees. Lately its been cold out, and after driving a while on the highway I was hitting 170 or so. I bought the beastly one, its 32x19 inches. Was intersting getting installed but worth it.
