is your truck a short box, long box, or extended cab? need to know that. I have an 86 short box standard cab and used a long shaft TH-350 with my stock driveline and rear and have been holding up til I had to put a short shaft in cause it was given to me so I had a new drive shaft built and kept my old one incase i put a long shaft back in it someday

Diablo, you can use a th350 with 9" tail. This will work if you use the same trans mount location. The problem by doing that, the engine is farther foward and little room in front the engine. The radiator would have to be mounted in the forward position to aid with the little room left. The drive shaft was from a 700r4 correct? That would be a 27 spline yoke and would fit the th350.
