I have trick springs up front and stock springs rear with overload spring removed. 2" lowering blocks rear and caltracs. Lakewood 90/10s up front and stock 50/50 shocks rear. My truck looks like a frog about to hop. The rear is too high. I think I will install 3" lowering blocks, and shim up the tail shaft on the tranny to get pinion angle back right. When I do this the truck is gonna be pretty darn low. Right now I believe along with worn out tires the stance of my truck is off enough to hender traction.
Anybody got a pretty quick truck thats lowered and gets great 60ft. times?? Like maybe low to mid 1.40s?? I think it will work, but looking for some reassurance.

Yes, it sits very much like that truck. I have 2" blocks in the rear currently. But have some 3" blocks to go in. I'll try to get some pics posted soon, and bring it to your attention. Tonight I'll have to play Mr. Mom for 3 girls until late, so I might not have time.
Thanks, Stroker1

Stroker1, ever thoght of putting Belltech lowed rear springs? Those springs give about 3" and have a 3 spring pack. The reduction of your blocks would raise the mounting point for your CalTracs and would help your pinion angle. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif I got mine for 166 shipped.

Truck (http://www.s10v8.com/myegallery.php?&do=showpic&pid=4460&orderby=) - 1.64 60 ft in this pic. This one was before the head swap.
Truck2 (http://www.s10v8.com/myegallery.php?&do=showpic&pid=5186&orderby=)
Front: 2" Drop spindles, trick springs, 90/10 shocks.
Rear: Removed overload and 1 spring (2 remaining) 3" blocks, CE shocks, slapper bars.
Best 60ft - 1.56
Thats about as good as a 60 ft as I can get with the current motor setup. It hooks good. I am changing to a roller cam this winter. Should 60ft in the low 1.5's high 1.4's.

I don't know what you mean by that. The lower plate on the caltracs mounts to the bottom of the spring. Regardless of how tall your lowering blocks are, the mounting point of the caltracs will not change relative to the spring. Only thing that happens is the rear end moves higher or lower and pinion angle relative to the tranny might change.

Thanks. I have the Slide-A-Links and 3" lowering blocks and I have cut as low as 1.29 60 ft. <<>> youve probably seen this truck >s10 dragracer.. this is what he is still running on his truck . G

Mine still sits a little high for my liking with Belltech drop leaves and 3" DJM blocks. To go any lower you start running into problems with the front of the leaf spring traction device dragging on the ground.

The only thing I was referring to was the distance or height from the ground to the U-bolt mount plate. The more block the lower the u-bolt plate get to the ground. The closer you get to the tire bulge with the u-bolts and adapter plate. By eliminating the blocks, you gain ground clearance and less interference. The lowering springs work like the originals, but have less arch or height.

reathe ground clearance issue with s10 (perticularly mine) having Slide-A-Links that the heim joint is lower or closer to the ground than the rim!!!!!! If one has a slick to blowout and the heim is closer to the track than the bottom of the rim there is going to be big trouble at that time such as that piece dragging the track surface WILL cause some WALL contact!!!!! .the Calvert Racing Mono Leaf and it lowered the truck 3" so I was able to do away with the blocks. Not only that they came with 175 lb rating so they work great for drag racing. Is this what you were getting at melon? G

OK now I understand what you meant about mounting point. The place where the force transfer link joins the leaf spring clamping plate. Yes I know it will make this lower and more likely to drag the ground. Unless I have a flat I should be OK.
Thanks for clearing that up. I would like to have the Calvert Racing split monos but for now I cant afford them. Maybe next year.

P.S. I'll try to post some pics of the truck soon. Before I was running a set of universal slapper bars and overload springs. Clamping the leaves to the overload spring dearched the springs and made the ride alot lower. Now it is sitting pretty high compared to the front.

I just posted in suspension forum, I have belltech 3" dropped springs no blocks just 3 2 degree wedges and now I am triing to find shocks to fit with my lakewood traction bars. stock shocks are bottomed out. I like the stance with 26" tall tires, don't know if it would hook at the track, never tried.

Your stock shocks are too long. I have Belltech 3" leafs and 1" block with the lakewoods and 26" tires. The shocks are Edelbrock for dropped trucks. I don't plan for those great 60ft times. I am looking more for the all around driving and put a few imports to shame. I have about 1 1/2" from the tire to the fender in the back, but they tuck. The rims are the 92 Irocs with the 5" backspacing. The tire is 245/45/16.
Stoker1, sorry about getting off key. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

It has 3 inch blocks in the rear and the front is dropped down 3 inches. It sits a lil high cause it has a huge tire on the back (295/65 radial). We had it a lil lower but it was * loading on and off his trailer. I like the stance of that truck though. To me its perfect. It 60fts in the low 1.40-high 1.30 range and runs 6.teens on the 100 shot. that particular run was a 1.42 60 ft.

Here is the stance of my truck now. A bit high in the back but not too bad. You cant tell that much 'cause pic is too close.

Here is the caltracs I'm using. Bought them from zerogravity58.
caltracs 1 (http://s10v8.com/members/stroker1/caltracs1.jpg)
caltracs 2 (http://s10v8.com/members/stroker1/caltracs2.jpg)
This is how it looks from underneath with 2" current blocks.
2" blocks (http://s10v8.com/members/stroker1/rearlowered.jpg)
Some other stuff to look at while I'm at it. Oh, Ray here's the one I refered to about the exhaust stirring up so much dust also. Engine compartment is no frills but no short cuts either. It's all about buisness. And a cheater kit sittin on the bench.

alternator bracket for electric pump (http://s10v8.com/members/stroker1/alternatorbracket.jpg)

So what da ya think? Be honest, my skins thick. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

i like the way it sits. The front isnt to low and has room for travel. The rear is a squeak higher that the front, which isnt all the bad. The cage looks killer, but i could see where that exhaust would be annoying.

stroker1, I posted a reply after looking at your pics and now I see it is not there. I don't know if it was misunderstood or what but what I meant to say was that your truck reminds me of mine being the same year long bed wth about the same stance, back tires stick out about the same. I think it looks great, open headers look cool and I wish my street tires had those wrinkle walls.

for melonhead, thanks for your input on the rear shocks. I'm looking for something a little less exspensive than the edelbrocks. thanks again.

I don't really like the tires sticking out. Looks dumb to me but I've either got to trade for a wheel with more backspacing or narrow the rear end again. And I might just narrow the rear. Oh, regarding the wrinkle walls, the tire leaks down. So they really aren't that wrikley. But when the power hits them, they do wrinkle quite a bit.
Thanks for the compliments.

question, front of my truck, if you looked at my pics of my blazer its slammed to the floor. i have 2" drop spindels, front stock coils w/ 1 coil cut off and stock shocks. problem i had was my A arms were pivoted upward and 1 of my header tubes was getting crused when the truck flexed in front. i have 1 tube on each side that goes over frame. i was even told at a few places that do front ends that its not good to have my A arms pivoted like that. i got new stock springs and put them in still w/ the 2 " drop spindels and shocks. now my truck sits a lil higher which eh sux a lil to me, A arms sit good again. but then everything was just all fuked up for alignment, no caster or camber, needed shims, basically a 300+ job. and still fells sloppy to me. i mean im not crushing my tube but truck doesnt feel as staright as it did when i get onit and that just on teh street. i mean it could be cause i have a 406 instead of a 355 now so im breakin loose teh tires on teh street. but still i broke loose w/ the 3555 n still went fairly straight. i just dont know what do do about this front end deal.
