ok just fell into some hard times so need to go real budget but still need to finish my truck.. 388sbc th400 ..I have a 4 cylinder rearend and i cant use it. I found a 1992 caprice ex cop car rearend drum to drum 55$ but cant seem to get ring and pinion or other specs on that year. randys ring and pinion shows some but i want to know if posi ,gear size, and spline count anyone no any info on this???? spline count should be 30 could be 28 on that year, gears are usually 2.76-3.08,carrier style is more than likely to be open.the ring gear is 8.5" which is good.the bolt pattern is 5on5 instead of 5 on 4-3/4 so you will need different wheels.

since money is a factor i suggest you find an 8.8 rear end from an explorer 3.55-3.73 gears locker and VERY inexpensive to install.

i'm pretty sure they make mini-spools for the 7.5" 10 bolt rear in the s10's, if that's what you wanted to do. it won't make your rear any stronger than it is now, but you'll have both rear wheels locked in all the time.

a friend of mine has a ford 9 inch set up for toyota but comes with mini spool 4:11 gears and dutchman axles but is currently apart and axles are 6 lug for toyota. he only wants 200 for it.

yeah cause the axles are 6 lug right now but could have then redrillled for the 5 on 4 3/4 pattern. Let me know and I will talk to him.
