I tried whacking my AutoMeter Sport Comp gauge smartly on a hard surface, needle still stuck. So I give up, the gauge is shot. And if that's the case, I might as well dissect it, right? So I loosen up the 3 nuts for the electrical connections on the back of the gauge, I can see that the faceplate and innards are loose, but it still won't come apart. I'm wiggling and jigglling it BUT WAIT! The damned needle is where it belongs! OK, put it all back together, and it works fine. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif
............ So I probably shorted the sending unit wire to ground, pegged the meter, and it got stuck there. Duh!
