i have a 82 s-10 that was an orginal 4cyl auto, what size rear was used for this combo? i am pretty sure it uses a 7.5 inch ring gear right? 26 spline axles? i am thinking of using aftermarket axles and a mini-spool. that should hold up to around 400hp shouldnt it? thanks
Those rears could take up to 350 horse from the factory (so says Chevy High Performance).

i ran over 400 to my stock rear, untill the spider gears evenutually broke, so i got a 7 5/8\'s with the 28 sline axels and i got a minispool and richmond 4:11\'s and it\'s still in my truck but i ordered a zexel torsen posi unit from slp for 99.95 check it out here (http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?PARTNUMBER=64501T&SHOWIMAGE=On&SHOWEMAIL=Off)
well worth the moneyand can handle close to 500hp, it\'s a direct take out from a new t/a or camaro, they are awesome, i did some research on them adn theuogh they\'d be awesome, i\'d rather have a functional vehicle than a mini spool, it got kind of annoying sometimes, but a lot of fun when you got on the gas espeically since you always knew what it was gunna do, oh and the zexel torsen says it fits a camaro or firebird they use the same diff as the s-10 so it\'s identical, this guy has one in his s-10 at http://home.earthlink.net/~deton8r/tacover.htm
check it out too, i\'d make it a link but apperantly you can;t do that when editing a message
\"your tranny is slipping\"
\"no dad i\'m pretty sure thats the tires\"
\"wow, thas a lot of smoke\"
\"thats a fun smell\"

oh and yes, yours is a 7.5, with that zexal you will have to swich to 7.625 axels so you get the 28 splines, but it\'l be well worth your money in the end, you might be able to trade a wrecker for different axels idf you give them your axels and your carrier too as long as it\'s ok, so it might only cost you the amount of the zexel, oh and gears cuz you probably won\'t want your stock gears cuz they will most likely by 3.42\'s or 3.08\'s, i suggest richmonds if your doing it that way, they are pretty decent prices too i think right around $200 for ring and pinion sets
