I bought a lunati bracket master II cam and a proform gear drive a few days ago for my 406. Hopefully a few of you have some experience with these. On the block I had to grind a ridge so the idler gears could mesh with the cam and crank gear correctly. The next step in the instructions is to use putty to ensure enough clearance between the idler gears axles, the cam button, and the timing cover. I was hoping someone had a better way of checking for these clearances. I\'m not sure how to measure 0.010 of putty. Maybe these clearances aren\'t too critical. Isn\'t putty usually used to figure go or no-go? Thanks

yah ive installed gear drives few times

you need to use the putty to ensure proper clearance but its not that critical just make sure it is to there specs if it is .010 or what you say then just visually check it you will be able to see it should be well over that usually to were a visual is more than enough to see the diff
