Can I use a old 1980 waterpump on a 1991 350 motor this engine had a reverse waterpump will the old one make the engine run hot.

I would say the older model pump would not have the same efficiency. If you compared the two pumps, the fins on the inside would be in opposite directions. If you plan to use the older pulleys and the older pump, no problem. The serpentine and the older pump, Not good.

I'm running a 1979 water pump on a juiced up 1994 350 in my Monte SS, so yes, you'll be fine.

You just need to turn it in the right direction, 1980 pump clockwise, 91 counter clockwise... If you turn the 80 pump with a cerpentine belt setup the answer would be Yes it would more than likely cause it to overheat, but then thats only true if you have a flat pulley on the pump driven by the back side of the belt...
