i just finally got my truck all finished up and when i put it in drive and punch it it just seems real sluggish until t hits about 3000 rpm's then it picks up a lil. i know i need to do some more tuning with the carb and set the timing but i have a strip dominator intake on and i have an edelbrock torker 2 intake sittin on the ground. should i change them out because the strip dominator is rated at like 3000 up to 6800 or somethin and the edelbrock is like 2500 up to like 6000. also the carb is only 600cfm and its got an 80gph fuel pump.

if you are going to run on the street more then strip i would use the rpm edelbrock mad..it is good from 1500 to 6500...if the cam is big you might need a 2500 stall too if the dur is around 270 to 285...chris

Isn't the Torker a single plane? And the Street Dominator a dual plane? So looks like the Street Dominator would be the better choice if you're concerned about under 3K RPMs.

................ But the bottom line is, the intake manifold probably isn't what's causing it to be flat below 3K. And as you said, you need to get it tuned. No sense getting nervous until you get 'er tuned & timed.

Oops, Chris pointed out that you said STRIP dominator, which is a big single plane manifold. So yeah, that's gotta go.

......... But unless you've got a killer mega-high RPM engine, I'd be looking for a dual plane intake like the Edelbrock Performer RPM, or the Air Gap RPM.

Aside the fact that you probably have the wrong style intake and maybe the wrong stall, you can take the torker 2 and let your old lady plant flowers in it.

But you didn't say anything about the rest of your combo so it might not be mismatched at all.

I wouldn't kick a hog in the ass for a torker 2. As for there intended purpose, the Strip Dominator is much better. I cant say much about the torker 2 on spray but it aint worth a crap by itself.

Go ahead and tune that thing first.

heres my combo. yea, i might need to do some tuning first and break averything in before i start experiminting.

355,summit pistons, stock crank, stock I-Beam rods, summit cam and lifters, manley valve guides, summit rocker arm studs, harland sharp roller rockers, arp poly locks, summit aluminum pulleys, holley strip dominator intake, edelbrock 600cfm carb, summit 80gph fuel pump, patriot ceramic coated headers, corvette radiator, summit radiator overflow tank, powermaster mini starter, cal custom valve covers and air cleaner,042 heads i think with alot of porting.

theres your problem. Add that single plane manifold thats meant to be a 4500ish-8000 rpm piece and you get a truck thats a dog under 3000. Get an intake with a power range that suits your camshaft.
