ok, so i lied to teh tech and said i only run 12's so then woldnt break my balls since i have noo roll cage. i figured just to make teh passes ill let of at the end so i stay around 12. 2nd and 3rd run i said * it im gonan go. well here they are. my r/t are sad so just ignore them..lol
1st. run 2nd run 3rd run r/t .379 .387 .596
60' 1.646 1.590 1.721
330' 4.726 4.646 4.792
1/8 7.492 7.207 7.353
mph 82.90 95.27 95.28
1000 10.116 9.443 9.589
1/4 12.414 11.352 11.499
mph 97.59 117.83 117.64
keep in mind i let off so i wouldnt get kicked off. i found out there was no one who would really kick me off so i went for it. the last run i popped my belt off.
all in all i think i did pretty good. and that was w/ a 456 gear, shifting at 6200rpm and passing thr traps at 6000rpm. figure ill drop the gear down to get more top speed. any suggestions.

4.88 will put you at about 6800 through the trap. 5.13 about 7400.. might push 10.9 1/4 ..good runs though oth ..braking or trans break on the leave?
OTHCUSTOMS
11-01-2007, 07:58 AM
im going off the foot brake, no trans brake in my truck. just line lock for the burn out and then all foot brake for launch. wouldnt u think if i went down to a 4.10 gear my time would be quicker?? and higher top speed?

what was your rpm at launch?
OTHCUSTOMS
11-01-2007, 08:04 AM
on the foot brake i was bring it up to about 2000-2200.

11-01-2007, 08:08 AM
ok so you havent given it all shes got yet so ..how about tire size?
OTHCUSTOMS
11-01-2007, 08:14 AM
well here is the thing, last time when i had my 355 in it. i couldnt hold the foot brake past 2200. i kept breaking the beam. since then ive put on stainless steel brake hoses front and rear and obviously the 406. brake feels alot better and line lock grips better on the burn out. i just dont think i can hold a higher rpm at the line. my converter isnt the right converter either. its just not working right w/ my truck.

oh and my slick size is 29x12x15

ok my thoughts, your gear is good already. Stall should be 4000-4500 , at the line tach 3000-3200 flash converter on launch . 60 fts will improve big time 1/4 mile times possible at 10.6 . The only reason id think not higher gear as in 4.10 is slower 60 ft and launch is critical for best run times ( as if you didnt already no this) lol. Id say better stall and try again but dont baby her.. lol

yeah thats what i figured as well kinda, i mean i couldnt understand how going to a 410 would help me. as for teh converter i knew already like i said that i needed to change it. my bu8ddy had it in his gto i took it cheap sent it out and got it re done to 4500 stall. doesnt work right though needto get a proper 1 for me. what size is more practical for a small block 406. not stall size , diameter size. liek i think mine is 9".

That's some serious #s for the first time out! Congrats! It's good that they let you slide with the 11.32. Was that Wednesday night (last night)?
................ I'm hoping to take a drive down tomorrow night (Friday) and give 'er a spin down the 1/4 mile.

yeah scotty that was last night (wed oct 31) i know i was surprised myself. that why i went 12.4 on the 1st 1. but then i saw myself and everyone there, and i mean everyone was like ah just go there isnt anyone around paying attention. so i just went figured screw it they send me home ill just disconnect my gmc envoy and take it down, haha. 3rd run though i def ova heated my tires and a lil down i heard a noise so i let off. i ended up fanning out the blades on my alternator pully and they were scraping on teh alternator itself. easy fix though just scared me. what size diameter converter should i be looking at? and what make??

Cool. Bar anything crazy, I expect to be there.
............. Regarding converters, I've got an 8" ATI. Think they called it a "TreeMaster" or something. About 2 years ago, cost only $650. And, they claimed they "built" it to suit my needs. Dunno about that, but it works for me! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif With my combo, it's about a 4K - 4500 stall, and street drives no problem.
.............. Wow, you must have been winding up that alternator! Time to get an underdrive (small) crank pulley and slow down that alternator. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif Or just shift at 5K. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif NOT!

You DO have mufflers on that monster, right? Wednesday open exhausts are allowed, Friday night, gotta have mufflers. (you'd think it'd be the other way around, right?) http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
.................... And did they check your helmet? Gotta have the latest Snell rating, or no go. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

HAHAHHAHA i ran my exhaust, i have exhaust dumps all i hafta do is take the plate off but i was too lazy. i wqas goin nuts all the way there, i went w/ like a convoy of friends, like 8 deep, trailers and people just drivin there cars. get on the tech line n im like oh man they are gonan turn my truck away. truck passes n the damn helmet fails. i supposedly had to borrow my freinds helmet. haha never did though, no one check, but i have a good helmet at home now. i wonder if i would have opened my dumps how i would have ran. by the way i found the ati treemaster, on sale 650. u sure its 4-4500? im gonan call 1 day n talk to the tech.

scotty w/ that converter what rpm are u foot braking at?
Scotty_S-15
11-01-2007, 04:52 PM
A convoy of vehicles and a mess of friends, all expecting you to "PERFORM"!! Geez, nothing like a little pressure! I go alone. So it's only the "crowd" of spectators in the grandstands to watch me. All 9 of them.http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif
............. The helmet thing really sucks. A track buddy of mine clued me in before I went for the first time this year. At his (accurate) suggestion, I got a new helmet. My old helmet is just a couple years old, looks like brand new, but no can use. They never, ever, checked helmets before.
............... I launch as low as I can, I give it a high idle, like 2K or so just so I won't stumble, and stab it.
................ For sure, call ATI. Maybe best to first go to their site and print out their "data" sheet, and fill it out beforehand. That way, when you call, you'll have all that info in front of you. They ask just about everything you can imagine, except maybe your underwear size. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Well Mr. Oth, by doing the "gig" tonight, you saved yourself from a very busy & frustrating night at Englishtown. My first run was at 6:14 PM, my second (and last) was at 8:45. No way I was hanging around until midnight to get a third pass. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif
............. It was a "theme" night. Fords against the world. I never saw so many Mustangs. First race I killed a new Saleen. Damn, it had some power, 120 mph trap speed. but I murdered him on the 60 ft.
............. And like you, I dropped below (however slightly) 11.50, and nothing was said.

Scotty,
You sure seem to be reeling in some good times on that new set-up!! CONGRATS!! Now I need to get home and catch you. I need to find some more power somewhere. I know it in there just finding it is the problem.
