Getting ready for next season and its time to go through the trans. I have a th350 with a manual valve body in it right now. But I have a th400 with a brake also. Either way I go I have to get one rebuilt. What do yall think. I know the 400 will take more hp power but I wont have worry as much about breaking it.

How much hp are you making? I would think with the right rebuild a TH350 should hold up just fine, and it'll save you what, about 75 lbs over the TH400?

gotta agree w/ stonebreaker.

The 400 would be fine if you build more than 600 horses.

just remember: A driveline combination is only as good as its weakest link.

On motor it is putting out a little over 525. But I plan on spraying a 200 shot to it. I am looking at building a blown 383 so I have to keep that in mind to.

525 + 200. Better get a Powerglide. I went thru 3 TB350s before I talked my pard into one. Truck ran much smoother and a LOT less violent leaving the line. No loss of time either. For the parts you will need to try to make that TB live you can have a Powerglide that you will love. We gave $750 for ours with manual valve body, good parts, and no brake. I also use a Redneck converter that flashes to 5400 that cost about $300.00. I think our next converter will flash a little lower.

How do you like your redneck converter? I was thinking about getting a glide from them it comes with a converter for about a grand.

th400 or glide. since you have the 400 already run that and kill some rear gear and itll haul.

I am running a 4.44 gear right now. Is that to low for a th400?

IMO, yes especially if your gonna spray it. Id look at not more than 4.10 with 3.90 being more realistic, depending on how tight your converter is.

redneck performance, ive seen their stuff on ebay, they say their transmitions compete with the best. Is this who you guys are talkin about? I myself am thinking of buying a trans off of them, any good?

So far I've gotten 2 converters and some Turbo parts from them. One was with a sprag and the last one is spragless. Both have performed very well. I really don't know if another converter would be better but, for the price and performance to date I think they are good.

sounds like a good product to me, one more question they offer a th350 and a powerglide transmition both built right for the same price also with a trans brake too, whitch is better in the long run though, i want to use a th 350 because of my rear gears and I dont want to blow it up either.

glide is better and easier on parts
