Hello everyone My name is Jim and my automotive class is going to build a 91 sonoma it currently has a 4.3 and 700R4. We have been given a 9 inch rear end, a 350 sb, turbo 350 trans, and a set of racing slicks. We have some different gears coming for the diff. We really need suggestions along with any plans or prints you might have. I don't know how radical this will get it just depends on how hard the students want to work. They really are fired up about it. Looking forward to hearing from everyone. I will be posting some pics very soon. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

To dangerous for the kids. Please donate all that to me. In return I will give you a honda with a vtec in the trunk so you can swap the engine for a whole extra 30 hp.
But really, are you planning on fabbing a motor plate or motor mounts. 4 linking it or ladder bars, narrowing the rear and tubbing the truck or are you just trying to make it run?

Well we have been given a 350 sb that runs we just have to get an intake and carb. we have both of those on the way from some local racers. We are getting gears for the 9 in. donated from another local racer. A back half frame and the full cage has been donated. We are trying to decide on the ladder bar or 4 link setup What do you guys suggest. We are going to buy the bed, doors, hood, and front clip from a local prostreet s10 for 300.00 and 12inch wide weld racing wheels for 150.00 I will build the turbo 350 myself (I was a transmission tech before I started teaching) So that is where we are at as for where we are headed who knows. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Well with the 9" gears and slicks you really need some power. I suggest nitrous so you don't have to spend a ton on a solid roller heads/cam setup and dyno time to get the engine running right and also match a stall to the combo.

Sounds fun.....Get those teenagers interested in something that will give them satisfaction and keep them off drugs. Keep up the good work, my hats off to ya. Will your classes be able to take it to the drag strip and test it?

well first off I have access to a dyno so that's not a problem as far as a nitrous set up I almost had one but missed out on it by a couple of days. I do have access to a couple of different piston sets 11:1 or 13:1 as for the heads and cam I will have to work on those. Matching everything correctly helps to get the students involved. We are going to work with different combonations and see the results that will keep it interesting. We live about an hour from the Tulsa Drag strip. I hope by springbreak we will be ready to take it to the track.
