View Full Version : weight for rear
Curious to know what people are using to get more weight in the rear, it\'s damn near impossible to get going when it\'s the slightest bit wet out for me. I do not have or plan on having a tailgate on my truck so I am looking for things other then throwing stuff in the bed.

i never tried it but my boss suggested filling the spare tire with sand or water concrete any thing heavy then mount it in stock location may want to beef up the support though

At work here we have press pits covered with 1.25 \" checkerplate steel. We drive 20 000 lb lift trucks over them. I put a 9\" wide section across the frame rails weighs about 80 or 90 lbs and has made quite a difference even made the back of the truck seem more managable doesn\'t try to get away from you unless persuaded by the right foot.
I also knew another guy who put calsium from heavy equipment tires in his spare, put it back up into place and put a cable across it for some added support.

I removed my spare, fabed up a steel plate from frame rail to frame rail and added pair of 5 by 5 solid steel blocks, weigh about 25 pounds a piece. Drilled and tapped holes in them and bolted them right to the plate. Have enough room to add 2 more if needed. makes a big difference in cornering and acceleration.
