View Full Version : HP estimate?
Ok heres what I got 1970 factory 255 HP bored .30 over added solid roller cam roller lifters and roller rockers. still has stock 194 heads and cast intake, edelbrock carb, hooker super comp headers and reworked HEI how much HP do you think I make?

what\'s the specs on the cam, i think it would be safe to say about 300-325, maybe less because of that factory intake and heads, also what\'s your compression ratio? it\'s worth getting a aluminum inake and good carb to go with it, that stock intake with a big cam is probably robbin you of about 15-25hp, they are really really restrictive when you put a bigger cam in, it depends on how big the cam is if it\'s really small it might only be robbing about 10hp but still

If its still the stock internals with a big cam, your not really makeing much more power than stock. Probably about 275 at the crank.

IT came stock with 255 HP how much HP can expect to gain if I change the heads and intake?

depends on what heads and intake you use, all i know si that when i bolted my edelbrock e-tec-200\'s on and a air gap intake, it made a huuuugggeeee differance, were talking like a 2 seconds differeance in the 1/4 it was awesome, i\'d say if you put a good set of heads and intake on and bosted your compression to about 9.5:1 you could be lookin at around 350 hp easy, well worth the money for a good set of aluminum heads

Probably not quite 350 at the crank, but pretty close. Thats if you bump the compression up to about 10.0:1 and a good set of S/R Torquers or Edelbrock Alluminums.

if it was 255 stock than with a cam swap and intake and carb swap you should be over 300. I took a bone stock 350 once and added a performer cam..like 420 lift, performer intake and holley 600 and thing was just incrediable from what it was. Before everything was installed it would barely spin the tires then with just cam intake and carb it would lay 30ft of rubber at a rolling start. I would say over 300 no problem.
